Gorilla Glue for painted surfaces?

Hello-

I'm trying to finish up a large piece of wooden furniture, the problem is that the surface is totally painted... and from reading the faqs I know that the Gorilla Wood Glue cannot adhere properly to painted surfaces, but I was wondering if the normal Gorilla glue can?

In case your wondering, it's a large tv console, and the top, where the tv is supposed to sit, does not fit properly into the pegs and holes because they're not angeled straight. So I took out the pegs and figured using good glue is my best option.

I want to avoid sanding both pieces.. I will if it's absolutely necessary but will the normal Gorilla glue adhere properly to two painted surfaces? Will it be okay to just sand one surface and attach that to a painted one? Or, will I have to sand both pieces for a secure adhesion even if using the normal Gorrilla glue?

I'd really appreciate your help!! Thanks in advance.

Re: Gorilla Glue for painted surfaces?

Hi

Unfortunately, you will need to sand both surfaces before using Gorilla Glue.  Any paint or stain will block the glue from getting a secure and tight bond.  It blocks the glue from entering into the surfaces being glued together.

I hope this helps.
