Gorilla Glue for Crockpot
I've been searching the web for a food-safe glue to use on the ceramic pot on my slow cooker. I've read that Gorilla Glue is used for wood bowls and other items bound for a microwave. Is it safe to use for hairline crack repairs to my crockpot after the 24 hour drying period? If safe, is it better to use the glue on the outside closer to the heating element, inside the pot, or both?

Re: Gorilla Glue for Crockpot

Gorilla Glue Stronger Faster is 100% waterproof when cured and non-toxic. It takes 24 hours for Gorilla Glue to cure 100%.

However, you cannot use the glue as a filler or a sealer.  It is an adhesive that needs to glue two tight fitting surfaces together.  You must clamp your surfaces together tightly while the glue is curing so when the glue expands, it is forced into the pores of ceramic pot.  This is what makes the bond so strong.  If you cannot clamp the two surfaces together tightly, the glue will not work.  It will expand and fill the crack but only cosmetically, not structurally.

I hope this helps- MaryEllen
