Help Opening

I am very embarrassed to ask this but I need help.  I use Gorilla Glue a lot and typically buy the one with the white plastic lid with the cap dangling from it not the screw off cap.   Well I am wondering the proper way of opening it.  I have been just hammering a nail into it to make a hole, but I am guessing there is a better and more appropriate method.  Please help me

Hammering a nail through is one way to access the glue; however you can just use a utility knife or sharp scissors to cut the tip of the applicator off. Then, when you're finished you put the small toggle cap back on.

Hope this helps! Lauren

Re: Help Opening

I used the nail (or drill bit) to get in the "nozzle" and it worked fairly well the first time I used it, but as it got older the glue became thicker and even sealed the hole. I always put the lid or cap on. I have a cutting board to fix tomorrow and I plan to do the cut of method to see if it helps. Any suggestions of what to do if it stays too thick to squeeze out?

Jim

Re: Help Opening

Hi Jim,

If you leave any air and moisture in your bottle, the glue will react to it and it will start to cure and it will get very thick in your bottle.  To prevent this from happening, before storing your glue, squeeze the bottle and allow the glue to go back up into the cap.  Just before it comes out of the bottle and while you still have it squeezed, replace the cap.

If you glue has gotten thick from this trapped air, stand your bottle in a cup of hot water for a few minutes.  DO NOT put the bottle in a microwave.  By gently heating, it will thin down any glue that has gotten thick.

Hope this helps!  Mary Ellen
